Profile
Marco S. Meier is a senior associate in the firm’s Zurich office and member of the ICT & Digital group and MLLStart!. His practice focuses on data privacy law, technology law, banking and finance law and regulatory matters in the digital economy, in particular in the retail, luxury, tourism, tech, financial services and healthcare sector. In addition, he regularly advises national and multinational companies on IT/IP M&A-Transactions.
Alongside his studies, Marco S. Meier worked in the legal department of a private bank in Zurich. He subsequently joined a leading business law firm in Zurich as a junior associate and then worked for a Big Four firm. Marco S. Meier was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 2017. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Lucerne and a bachelor’s degree in business law from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. He spent a semester at the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, where he focused on international business law, contract law and dispute resolution.
He is fluent in German, English, French and is conversant in Italian.

- Advice and assistance to a UN-Organization with regard to a project assisting a UN member state modernizing its local data protection and cybersecurity laws

- Advised various clients in the Tourism industry, including tourism destinations, with regard to digitalization, data protection and joint offerings
- Advised a major producer and reseller of jewelry and watches with regard to the launch of their international online business involving the coordination of legal compliance in various jurisdictions
- Advised a major producer and reseller of jewelry and watches with regard to the implementation of a data protection framework including a secondment in this context
- Regularly advising clients in the negotiation of IT contracts and the implementation as well as the realization of apps
